Dr. Reshma Puranik, MD, DNB Medicine, DM, DNB Medical Oncology, MRCP UK, ECMO, received the Pune’s Distinguished Oncologist & Leading Cancer Specialist Award 2026 at the Maharashtra Excellence Awards and Conclave 2026. The event was held on August 22, 2026, at Sayaji Hotel, Wakad, Pune, and was organized by Insights Success and powered by Insights Excellence Awards. Marathi actress Nivedita Saraf attended as Chief Guest. The award recognizes Dr. Puranik’s work as a Consultant Medical Oncologist and Haemato-oncologist in the city.
Dr. Puranik currently leads MOC Cancer Care and Research Centre’s Kalyani Nagar and Swargate branches, and is also associated with Dr. Puranik Cancer Clinic along with Ruby Hall, Jehangir, and Jupiter hospitals in Pune. She completed her MD in Medicine from B.J. Medical College and Sassoon General Hospital, followed by a DM in Medical and Pediatric Oncology and Haemato-oncology from Gujarat Cancer Research Institute, Ahmedabad. Chief Guest Nivedita Saraf, known for her long career in Marathi cinema and theater, was present through the evening, and her attendance added a warm, festive note to a ceremony otherwise centered on medical and professional achievement.
Dr. Puranik holds a DNB in General Medicine and DNB in Medical Oncology, and stood first in India in DNB Oncology, earning the President NBEMS Gold Medal for her performance. She is also a Member of the Royal College of Physicians, UK, and holds certification from the European Society of Certified Medical Oncologists. In 2022, she received the Woman Warrior Award for her work in medical oncology, adding to a body of recognition built over years of clinical practice.
Her clinical work covers a wide range of cancers, including head and neck, lung, breast, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, sarcomas, and skin cancers, along with hematological conditions such as leukemias, lymphomas, and multiple myeloma. She has a particular focus on cancers affecting women, including breast and cervical cancer, and has been active in awareness work through NGO AAKAR, where she contributes to educating young girls on menstrual health and cervical cancer prevention. She has also worked on social health initiatives in the Melghat region and remains involved in cancer screening and early detection efforts.
The Pune’s Distinguished Oncologist & Leading Cancer Specialist Award adds to Dr. Puranik’s record of clinical achievement and community health work. It stands as recognition of her sustained contribution to cancer care and awareness across Pune.
