IBM has rolled out an updated version of SQL Data Insights Pro, adding features that let organizations steer AI-powered analysis toward the data most relevant to their business needs on enterprise mainframe systems.
The tool applies AI-driven similarity analysis directly to structured and unstructured data on IBM Z, letting teams uncover patterns and relationships through familiar SQL interfaces rather than conventional queries alone.
Since launch, SQL Data Insights Pro has broadened its reach across enterprise data sources including Db2 for z/OS, IMS and VSAM, while adding integration, automation and operational visibility improvements along the way.
The version 1.1.1 update introduces column prioritization, letting customers flag business-critical columns during model training so results reflect the relationships that matter most to their objectives, incorporating domain expertise directly into the process.
A new client certificate management feature lets administrators upload and manage SSL certificates through the administration interface, and perform related service restarts from the same dashboard, cutting down manual configuration steps.
Deployment also becomes more flexible. Earlier versions required Spark for every setup, but the update makes Spark optional, needed only when training runs on the z/OS side rather than the accelerator side, reducing installation dependencies.
