Three decades after a Bolton family opened a television business, TVD Group has passed £342 million in cumulative turnover. This year also marks 10 years of its own TV label, Mitchell & Brown.
Jim Brown and his sons, Matthew and Daniel, launched the company. It now stands among the UK’s most established independent AV technology groups.
Since it opened, TVD Group has sold more than 1.5 million products and carried out over 200,000 installations at more than 60,000 client sites. Its service team has taken more than 45,000 calls.
Lucia Maguire, the group’s managing director, said people remember whether a company gave sound advice, picked up the phone, and showed up in a crisis. She said the Brown family built that habit, and staff still follow it.
TVC Technology Solutions, the group’s commercial AV arm, serves hospitality, leisure, and entertainment clients. It has handled big projects for Hollywood Bowl, F1 Arcade, and Genting Casinos.
Independent electrical retailers sell Mitchell & Brown televisions, and the brand has grown a loyal following through them. Maguire praised those shops for knowing their customers and standing by them, and she promised to keep backing independent retail over the next 10 years.
Employees now hold a majority stake in the business. Maguire said the change gives every team member a share in the future and keeps the company feeling young.
