US companies are signing up in large numbers for the APEC CEO Summit 2026 in Shenzhen, making the United States the economy with the most registered firms, a Chinese trade official said on Tuesday.
The summit will run from November 17 to 18 in Shenzhen, in South China’s Guangdong province. Wang Wenshuai, a spokesperson for the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, told a regular press conference that foreign firms show rising enthusiasm to attend.
Amazon, Walmart, Apple, Google, ExxonMobil and Microsoft have already applied. The firms work in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, biopharmaceuticals, energy, finance, transportation, logistics, chemicals, aerospace, manufacturing and consumer retail.
Wang said the turnout shows how much US businesses value Asia-Pacific cooperation. He added that it also reflects the close links between Chinese and American industrial and supply chains.
Li Yong, a senior research fellow at the China Association of International Trade, said market forces are driving the interest and that business cooperation between the two countries remains solid.
Harley Seyedin, president of the American Chamber of Commerce in South China, said US firms still see China as a strategic priority. He cited its supply chains, pace of innovation and talent pool as boosts to their global competitiveness.
The council has urged business groups from both countries to deepen cooperation through events such as the China International Supply Chain Expo and a business delegation to the US.
